Default Out with the old, in with the new...

It would appear that my old W/N farmer is down the tubes since the enemy ALWAYS scatters upon recieving Mark of Pain and now I'm stuck using Spiteful Spirit as my bomb. [apparently, enemies won't run if they're teammate is part of the problem] and yet, sometimes, the hexed victims stops moving for like 10s. then starts attacking again.

Damn these enemies are SMART...

How many of you have lost farming tech due to the patch? [I like this, that means my pvp build, which doesn't do well in farming at all but OWNS TEH WORLD when with a party of these new 'smart' enemies...]

I was never a big fan of farming but now I'm forced to team up, and bring the beef using pvp spike damage. Also, the teammates I've been with have somewhat stopped using AoE attacks outside hex degen and have focused on single point insta-kill skill build setups.

I'm all for this. It forces the smarter players to step up and scares away the crybaby whiners who can't earn 50 plat in one hour anymore farming total idiotic beasts...

Go Anet!!

Lost Augury, kinda makes me mad because I would seeing all those numbers and the godlike sensation that came from it. But, I have other places, favor pending unfortunately for some.

Wow, new forms of 'bombing' is dancing around in my head... Ah the new possibilities of old skills I usually never used in pve...

Barbs
Weaken Armor
Spiteful Spirit {E} (yeah, 15e. is a lot but I manage my energy carefully)

I think the Sword Death Knights using Virulence might start becoming more dangerous in PvE as well...

*brandishes his trusty axe*

Time to put Eviscerate and other nasties up in here... ^_^

has the patch affected mark of pain?

it didn't seem like it from my testing. my bro and i do 2-man farming in uw. he has a hod sword wielding invincimonk and i have a curses nec. i slap on spiteful and mop on one target, which he attacks with his sword. the others never run from the mop damage. are you sure about them running from it, yukito?

btw, ract, the dolyak sig + watch yourself build works in augary as well. take out hundred blades and put in glad defense and other stances and you can still farm the griffs + minos. takes a bit longer, but it still works.

Yeah, but it's just not the same... sure I used Gladiator's before, but without the aid of Symbol and Aura it's just not fun. However, I've taken a liking to the grawls outside of droks using that same build, except Riposte in place of Sprint... and Frenzy over Flurry. Not to mention 16 sword, and only 9 tactics. Good fun.

haha. great minds think alike, it seems. i've been farming those very same grawls this past weekend, except i usually exit from port sledge. i still have a bunch of runes i need to unlock, and the place is loaded with armors that come bearing runes.

i use an axe variant, so no riposte for me. cyclone + executioner's + power attack + glad defense is good fun too, though.

By myself, my old MoP build, when I'm bopping the griff with the Mark, he'll up and walk away, and the foes near him scatter as well causing my war to chase. [then he gets surrounded, not good]

I have to force myself to back up, keeping all my foes on my front (where my shield AL is worth something) and then track the MoP foe to see if he runs back. Sometimes he doesn't...

I suppose with 2 people, the monster's aren't as uniform, which makes sense. If you'd like, you could test my MoP W/N farmer for yourself...

10+1+1 Axe
7+1 Strength
9+1 Tactics
10 Curses (or you can ditch str. altogether to feed curses)

Cyclone Axe
Dismember
Axe Rake
Bonetti's Defense
Victory is Mine! {E}
Sprint/Plague Touch
Enfeebling Blood
Mark of Pain

Do it solo with your warrior or what not [n/w might work too since this isn't a strength build].

I don't think 2-man farming isn't really "farming" in the traditional mmorpg sense because it's still a team. Albeit a really small one.

1 person by him/herself shouldn't really be able to challenge the world no matter how powerful they may be...

That build just doesn't kill as fast anymore because my hexed vicitim simply ups and walks away...

Spiteful Spirit on the other hand...

there might be something weird going on with the ai with mop and a solo farmer. i'll give it a shot sometime tonight. i have an old solo n/e build which used mop that i can use to test it.

anyway, farming is farming regardless of how many people there are. i actually prefer 2-man over solo because... well, solo gets lonely. with 2 man farming, it gives you someone you can chat with.

and yes, spiteful spirit is quite the wonderful hex.

Sure you can, with some good energy management you can use QZ, Oath Shot, flame trap, barbed trap, dust trap, Whirling Defense, and apply poison to solo the Underworld. Place a number traps at one location for 90 seconds as you normally would, then Apply Poison and pull the Aatxes. They'll hit the traps and drop significantly, make sure you get them poisoned. A few seconds after hitting the trap, they'll flee all the way back to their spawn point (sometimes take practice to line them up) and will be crippled, allowing you plenty of time to regain energy and lay a flame trap. Cycle your pulsing traps (flame and dust) to "bounce" the Aatxes back to their spawn points over and over, and use Oath Shot if both are down to refresh and continue the cycle. They should die (primarily of bleeding and poison) within a minute or so. If you find yourself in need of energy, you can maintain the Whirling Defense with careful uses of Oath shot and kite the Aatxes for a while, but beware...you have to keep them conditioned or you'll lose all your work to their regen.

Taking out the Darknesses is a bit more difficult, and requires some intelligent use of the terrain. Try trapping a corner, I've had the best results here, but still haven't been able to clear them all.

Good luck!

Note: I've also tried using Drakescale armor with Greater Conflagration and Mantra of Flame. You'll find that tanking the Aatxes becomes very easy with these skills...they'll deal maybe 40 damage per hit on average, and give you some energy. The problem becomes setting traps with their constant attacks bugging you, you'll need to make good use of kiting and keeping them crippled.

Mark of pain has an interesting way of affecting monsters... the monster I targeted with it is the one running away, not the ones taking damage...

jeez, every time I lurk back to the campfire, Yukito has posted up another new (and fun) build... You should publish a library somewhere!

huh one thing i don't get is how every1 says solo farming at Augury's impossible now. I do it, and granted, I die more frequently and it takes couple more minutes, but nothing that will force me to resign from augury.
And I'm not a great kickass farmer like Yukito is; I use a w/mo and i don't care much about uniqueness as long as it works. i changed the regular build a bit but nothing revolutionary.

Yep, the update seriously altered my build. Bye-bye Firestorm and Meteor Shower.

That's OK though. I knew there were LOTS of hidden gems in the Necro spell line that I wasn't using. We all probably needed this kick-in-the-butt to get us looking at some more elaborate techniques. I am also experimenting with Weaken Armor and Barbs on my MM build.

What's become MUCH more attractive to me is Blood/FoC spiking. FoC is a ~100 point AoE spike that doesn't scatter enemies. I'd like to see more builds along those lines.

Bah* If I did, then I'd lose motivation to think up new goofy stuff. [or rather, old modified stuff]

I have a pet build I use to farm the Sand Drakes in Elona, solo. No AoE, not slow.

Haha I farmed those guys before I found out about the Caromi Tengu before their nerf.

They are a great group to hang around... at least for a little bit longer.

Ugh, A-Net did that to stem the flow of gold into the hands of Gold Famers Who Sell Gold Online. Honestly, I mainly play PvP now, but I truly used to enjoy invincimonk farming in between groups. Not to get massive amounts of gold, but to sift through cool items looking for new things or useful things. I think A-Net should spend time closely monitering the PvP situation and not bother nerfing PvE farming....I mean really, I haven't noticed a drop in Gold Sellers. Have you?
